Adoption and take-over
In every newsletter we mention the fact that many of the animals we took in have been successfully relocated. Sometimes you wonder and ask us questions about it.
This is a good reason for us to go a bit deeper into this matter. We hope that we can answer those questions all at once: Parrots which are brought to us by private individuals will stay with us for the rest of their lives. It is laid down in the contract that has to be signed by both parties.
These animals are brought to us often after a long and emotional assessment and with the knowledge that they will be able to spend the rest of their lives in large aviaries and in the company of their own species. Therefore adoption of a parrot or relocation these birds is out of the question, no matter how catching the stories are about how well someone would take care of them.
Parrots that were seized by the government receive a different treatment. A public prosecutor will decide if the 'goods' will have to be returned to the rightful owners or that they will be handed over permanently to the N.O.P. Then the N.O.P. can decide whether these animals will stay in the park or will be relocated.
