Funding

The Dutch Foundation for the Refuge and Care of Parrots (N.O.P.) has been busy since 1987 with sheltering and caring for parrots that can not be maintained by their owners. Besides healthy parrots, mainly sick, weak and nervous parrots are being placed with us. Everybody who has experienced them via our foundation is touched. It costs our volunteers many hours to shelter and take care of the birds, but we spend it gladly. Publicity in newspapers, magazines, radio and TV programs, and the many positive reactions from other people is our biggest reward.

But still we want more, not for ourselves but for the many parrots that still live under appalling conditions. They deserve a place in our sanctuary in Veldhoven that still needs expanding. And this has to be done quickly. For the birds waiting for quiet night quarters, spacious aviaries and a pleasant surrounding and for the many tens of thousands of visitors who come through our gates yearly.

Large investmenst have to be made for the development of the terrain and the buildings. We partly rely on the support of industry for this. The parrots also need medical care, food, vitamin supplements and special climatory adoptions etc etc. This also costs money, a lot of money. We can give them attention for free, but for everything else we have to pay as well. That is why we ask commerce to support us with a donation, be it monetary or in trade. By sponsoring or 'roll up sleeves' help. With every donation, gift or sponsoring we can do more for the parrots.

How do we raise funds?

• Many tens of thousands of visitors pass the gate of our Parrot Park each year. All the proceeds such as entrance fee and the shop revenue will be used for the animals.
• Significant investements are needed to maintain and manage the park and its buildings. To fund these investments, we appeal to businesses to support us, either by sponsoring us financially or by donating time as volunteers.
• Thousands of people have become supporters of the Foundation. Both former bird owners, who have left their birds in our care, as well as people who frequently visit the park, using their donation pass.
• Through received donations and as legal beneficiaries.
• Compensations to cover the care and housing of confiscated animals.
