Rules on behalf of the birds that are handed over to us, for You as well as for us.

1. Birds in our refuge centre will never be used for trade or scientific testing. The only exception is research we may need to do on behalf of the birds in our park.
2. If you can spare the cage in which the bird lived we would like you to bring it with you. The bird will feel more comfortable during the quarantine period.
3. In our refuge centre we do not breed with birds for commercial purposes. We only breed with birds that are endangered in the wild.
4. The birds that are brought to us will always go into quarantine. This will last 8 to 10 weeks.
5. You can not visit your bird while it is in quarantine. This is because of veterinary regulations and in case the bird has trouble adjusting. But you can be kept informed about the condition of your bird by contacting our office by telephone.
6. Every bird larger than a dwarf parrot will be provided with a chip implanted by our vet to assure a proper registration.
7. In case a bird refuses to eat within 4 days we will ask you to recollect your bird.
8. Our vet is on stand by 5 days per week. She monitors the birds constantly.
9. We hope that, like us, you will realize that even in our park birds die. These deceased birds are send to the NOIVBD to determine the cause of death. Every year there are quite a few because of the old age of many of these birds.
10. After the quarantine period the birds will be placed as a group or as a couple in a large aviary. This depends on species, behavior and the condition of the animal (i.e. can it fly, etc.)
11. Information about the well being and the location of the animal that you brought to us can be obtained Monday to Friday 10 AM till 3 PM. Please try to keep to these hours because the few people who work at our refuge centre have quiet a heavy workload. We can check in which aviary your bird has been placed by means of the computer at our office.
12. If you are/become a supporter you will always be able to visit your bird. As a supporter of the N.O.P. your donation will not just benefit your animal but all the animals in the park.
13. In connection with the well being and peace and quiet of the birds we will never disturb a group of birds because we have to catch a bird in order to prove that your bird is really among them.
14. In case you change your mind during the first 4 weeks of the quarantine period you can recollect your bird without any problem. But please keep the following in mind ! During the quarantine period we put birds together and it would not be fair to those birds which really found each other to separate them again.
15. In order to save you and ourselves a lot of emotions you will not be notified in case the bird dies. But in case you would appreciate being informed, please make this very clear on the day you bring the bird or give us a call after reading this text.

We will only accept the parrot if you agree to all 15 above mentioned points.
